Microsoft has decided to turn its game creation tool Project Spark into a “free incubation engine”. Starting this October, the all premium DLC will become free. Any payments made for in-game content and Project Spark retail disks bought or activated on or after 28 July 2015 will be reimbursed within the next 2 months.
Speculating about the implications of this surprising move, people in the gaming world are wondering whether Microsoft intends to wind up the program, more so because the developers have decided to stop adding content beyond the 200 assets to be updated by October 5th.
The PC and Xbox One-powered game tool has more than 200,000 players who contribute around 300 to 400 new games daily. Microsoft has reassured users that it has no wish to abandon them and is already working on “new programs and activities” to keep users entertained.
