Narenedra Modi returned yesterday from his 4 day-visit to Singapore and Malaysia, yet another extension of his Act-East policy. More agreements were signed regarding further bolstering of partnerships and cooperation.
PM Modi has been continuously improving links with ASEAN nations since his election eighteen months ago. He addressed these ASEAN nations at the ASEAN-India and East Asia summit in Malaysia and met a few world leaders in the four days. He also gave an address to the Indian diaspora regarding his developmental plans for India and invited them to invest in India’s future.
Malaysia is especially important to India due to its strategic location on India’s links with prominent Asian markets like South Korea, China and Japan, not to mention the mass of Indian diaspora hosted by the nation. Singapore is India’s largest trading partner among the Asean nations and is a great asset to the Indian economy.
