Chris Brown, on Wednesday, announced the cancellation of his live shows in Australia and New Zealand to be held next week. No reason was given for this by promoter Ticketek in its official statement, which said that that the popular singer intended to carry forward the tour sometime in the near future.
When Brown had applied for visa in September, he had been served with a “notice of intention to consider refusal” by the Australian Ministry. The main cause of the refusal was Brown’s history of domestic violence on ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown has publicly accepted his actions and expressed desire to turn a new leaf by spread awareness regarding spousal abuse. He has also, since then, toured Australia twice. But Minister for Women, Michaelia Cash, insisted on taking a stand this time; especially after refusing visa to Champion American boxer, Floyd Mayweather, earlier this year on similar grounds.
The Australian Immigration Department has declined to comment on the issue for protecting the singer’s privacy.
