26 year old Elizabeth Lim became the first Australian (and pharmacist) to win the world championship in Wushu (Chinese Kung Fu).

Once known as a tool for fighters and warriors, the art has gained tremendous popularity in recent years as a means to gain discipline and fitness. Its perfection requires the practice of several artistic and combat elements, making it as much an art as a weapon.

Lim studied the art at WA Chin Woo Athletic Association, a not-for-profit organization founded by  Kee Lee Tan, to help young children, especially Asian migrants, find a safe way to channel their energy and “stay off the streets”.
