At 0700 today, ISRO began its 59-hour countdown for launching of six Singaporean satellites. This will be the 32nd flight of the Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, which has launched around 51 customer satellites for around 20 countries till today. The satellites will be set in orbit at a 550 km altitude and an angle of 15 degrees to the equator.
The primary of the six satellites is the TeLEOS-1 (400 kg), Singapore’s first commercial earth observation satellite, which will be used for remote sensing applications. It will be launched along with two micro-satellites and three nano-satellites.
The countdown has been approved by The Mission Readiness Review committee and Launch Authorisation Board. The launch will occur at 1800, December 16, from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
